Even though I usually call them tour box one and tour box two, The Book Tour Project really started with two boxes simultaneously.
Yes, Sea Of Tranquility was the first book I ever chose for them, but on the same day I knew I was gonna have to add Braiding Sweetgrass to this project too.
I don’t usually mention the boxes by their genre or type - one fiction (which happens to be Sci-fi, my most favourite and most disliked genre), and one non-fiction - but if I am being honest, after the first week I was dreaming of having several themed tour boxes out there, as many boxes as there are genres going around.
I have my favourite genres: literary fiction, horror/thriller, and dystopian stories that fall under Sci-fi, even though once again I must admit it is my most and least liked genre. But the dream really is a broad amount of boxes going around, also with genres I don’t care much for, and even those I don’t really like (like very scientifical or technological Sci-fi, okay I’ll stop talking about Sci-fi now).
Due to a finite budget, that is not possible - yet! But it’s something I can plan for the future, as one can - and should - dream.
A few years ago I used to read quite a bit of Young Adult; most YA novels deal with heavy subjects but there is almost always the promise of a happy ending. I like that about them.
In the last few years I’ve been dedicating less time to YA - I might have grown out of it in all honesty - but sometimes I will still pick up one YA novel or two.
With the start of this project, an idea came to mind: what if I created a YA box for younger readers, and those who like the genre in general? And that’s when I decided TBTP would have a third box going out this year.
As the decision became more palpable, I realised here was someone I would love to collaborate with in this, specifically one author.
So I got in contact with them, waited a couple of weeks, and I finally have good news to share: the collaboration is a go!
At the moment I have a book gifted by the author on its way to me, and I will reveal the collab as soon as the copy arrives here in the Netherlands.
While we wait, I figured I would make a small game of it, a challenge of sorts: having you try and guess the author collaborating with our YA tour box!
The winner(s) will get a TBTP bookmark and sticker sent their way!
Of course, a guessing challenge requires a couple of hints, so here they are:
Author has three solo YA novels published, with a fourth coming out this year;
From the USA;
Often writes Latina main characters who have a tough relationship with their mother.
If you know who I am talking about, please DM me on Instagram @thebooktourproject for a chance of winning!
With love,
